Synopsis

Vincent, auteur-compositeur charmant, est aux anges lorsqu'il apprend que son band va enfin partir en tournée. Son rêve devient enfin réalité. Cependant, peu de temps avant le début de la tournée, il souffre d’une infection à la gorge persistante. Une visite régulière au docteur prend une tournure pour le pire et se termine par un diagnostic radical : un cancer de la langue au stade 4. Seulement quelques mois à vivre. Le monde de Vincent s’effondre sur le coup. Comment cela peut-il lui arriver ?

Une montagne russe d’émotions envahit la vie de Vincent d’une manière qu’il n’avait jamais imaginée. Il est forcé d’accepter et de faire la paix avec beaucoup de choses, mais il n’est pas prêt à le faire ; perdre son emploi, le déclin de la santé mentale de son père, ne pas avoir la force physique de compléter son projet de rénovation et, le plus dévastateur de tous, ne pas partir en tournée avec le band. En fait, son diagnostic met en lumière ses relations interpersonnelles; celles qu’il croyait être de véritables amitiés sont finalement superficielles. Il est malade et il est seul.

Les traitements médicaux sont pénibles et commencent à affecter son autonomie au point qu'il n'a pas d'autre choix que d'accepter les services de Renée, une bénévole verbomotrice à l’hôpital et de Mike, un infirmier à domicile avec une approche rigide. Alors que les traitements deviennent plus sévères sur son corps, Vincent compte de plus en plus sur Renée et Mike, ce qui assombrit son optimisme. Son esprit libre commence à céder au désespoir, malgré le soutien compatissant de Renée et Mike. Et Maintenant? est une histoire sur la réflexion profonde sur nous-mêmes et nos peurs, sur l’abandon à la vie et au chemin qu’elle propose. Vincent est plongé dans une tempête de circonstances cauchemardesques que beaucoup trop de gens traversent malheureusement. Et pourtant, à travers tout cela, la vie trouve un moyen de lui apporter sagesse et grâce par des moyens inattendus, lui permettant de vaincre les obstacles et d'avoir une nouvelle perspective sur la vie et l’importance des liens authentiques.

Vincent, a single and charming singer-songwriter, is ecstatic when he learns that his band will finally go on tour. His dream is finally becoming reality. However, not long before the tour is scheduled, he has a throat infection that just doesn’t seem to go away. A seemingly regular doctor visit takes a turn for the worse and ends with a drastic diagnosis: stage 4 tongue cancer. Only a few months to live. Vincent’s world collapses on the spot. How can this be happening?

A rollercoaster of emotions takes over Vincent’s life in ways he never saw coming. He is forced to accept and make peace with many things but he is not ready to; losing his job, the state of his father’s mental health, not having the strength to continue his house reno project and most devastating of all, not going on tour with the band. In fact, his diagnosis sheds light on what he thought were true friendships only to reveal how shallow they actually are. He is sick and he is alone.

Arduous treatments begin to affect his autonomy to the point where he has no other choice but to accept the services of Renée, a bubbly volunteer hospital driver for appointments, and Mike, a rigid home nurse. As the treatments become more harsh on his body, Vincent relies more and more on Renée and Mike, much to his demise. His free-spirited self starts giving way to despair, despite the growing compassionate support of Renée and Mike. Et Maintenant? is a story about facing one’s own truths and surrendering to our life’s journey. Vincent is thrown into a storm of nightmarish circumstances that far too many people go through unfortunately. And yet, through it all, life still finds a way to bring wisdom and grace to him through unexpected ways, leaving him beating all odds and having a newfound perspective on life and relationships.
